Opium war- Imperialism in china

The Opium War was a war between England and China. They fought in during 1839 to 1842. China lost the war because the British had better weapons, and steam power, which China didn't have. For years, China didn't want to trade because they thought they had everything they needed. China used to use opium as treatments for diseases and sicknesses. The Chinese had put opium in the green tea and it became very popular. The British started putting opium with tobacco so then it was able to smoke it.

Imperialism Project

We did the Imperialism Project because we wanted to know how Europeans got raw materials from other countries. They had to travel through ships to get what they wanted or needed. Or we went to a country, or a small nation and took what we wanted, or took over the nation. We completed this project so that our class could see the effects of Imperialism. Imperialism is when a powerful country or nation takes over another foreign territory. For this project, we attached things like cotton, tea, gold, and products related to that onto the project map. We also drew shipping lines on the map to show the trade routes of some of the countries. For example, England needed cotton to make more clothing in their factories, especially since there was an increase in demand for clothing. They noticed that India had cotton in their country so they decided to sail to their country to get the goods they needed or wanted.

Karl Marx and Communism

Karl Marx's theory lead to a peaceful society which was controlled by the working class, also known as the lower class. Communism is a system of government in which the state planes and controls the economy. And a single, often party holds power, claiming to make progress towards a higher social order in which all goods are equally shared by the people. He believed that if people would get together and make a change, the society will be a better place to live in. He also thought that people weren't getting enough pay, when they should of because they worked hard for 25 cents. Communism payed everyone the same pay no matter what job they had. In his opinion he thought anyone that was with the idea of the Industrial Revolution was cruel and greedy. Also he believed that religion was a drug , it kept people from doing the work because it kept the people quite . Another thing was that it kept people in metal chains . He beleived there was going to be a strike or a fight agianst the workers and bosses. Because the workers wanted their pay and the bosses refused to give them the money they desereved.

Karl Marx and The Industrial Revolution

Karl Marx was a man best known as a 19th Century Revolutionary. Karl Marx felt like this because of the Industrial Revolution. Rich people got richer and poor people got poorer. This Revolution inspired Karl to invent communism because he thought the working class was bad even to work for low wages. He hated The Industrial Revolution, he didn't think people were being treated fairly. So he did what anyone would do, he stood up and fought for a change.Communism, was something everyone was in, they wanted out and they weren't going to quit till they got what they deserved. Karl Marx inspired people to stand up for themselves and to speak up.

"Differences of age and sex have no longer any distinctive social validity for the working class." - Karl Marx

Nationalism and the Creation of Italy

I think that nationalism is the way a country is different from all the rest of the countries. Like what makes the country different and special. I know I'm nationalistic because every year i celebrate fourth of July with my family and friends. Fourth of July is known as a American holiday because on July 4,1776, we won our independence.

Nationalism was also used to create the nation of Italy. Before a long time ago Italy used to be a part of the Austria-Hungary empire. Sooner than later Italy started getting influenced by other countries getting independence. So one day, they thought maybe they should get independence also, so they went to war.. They're were riots all over Italy which also made many other riots in Europe. They named their nation and broke away from the Austria empire. Then they made a flag for their nation was not part of any other nation or empire.

Simon Bolivar and Latin American Revolutions

Simon Bolivar is mostly known for having a a country named after him, Bolivia. Him and his army took over most of South America, except Brazil, he defeat the Spaniards to win the countries. Napoleon Bonaparte was his brother, basically he probably felt as if he needed to be better than his own blood. He was a hero because he thought all people were suppose to be equal and free. The main reason he wanted his quest for revolution was that he thought some people in South America shouldn't be treated in a foul way by the Spaniards. The people in Latin America were inspired from The Enlightenment, they wanted their own liberty and they wanted their own freedom. In Europe Napoleon controlled Spain and entered his brother as king of Spain. The people in Latin America were suppose to respect the king, but how could they if he wasn't even Spanish. Later on Simon Bolivar got a illness and stayed home for a couple days. Days past by and he died. Everyone thought that they should respect him in some way. So they got his last name and named a country after him, the country now known as "Bolivia".

John Locke

The Declaration Of Independence that Thomas Jefferson wrote explains the rights people have. Most of them fall into the rights of, Liberty, Life, and the Pursuit Of Happiness. He also explains how all people should be treated equally. And have the freedom for people to do whatever they want and no one can judge upon them. Thomas Jefferson wrote most of it because back then he was considered a smart guy, let alone with some signatures too. At this point everyone hated the King of Great Britain, for asking Americans for taxes in a high rate that barely no one could afford back then. One important part of the "Essay" is that it states, anyone can be President, your family doesn't have to be from a history of democracy.

Copernicus And The Trial Of Galileo

The trail of Galileo was known as the Roman Catholic Church , he was considered that he had in relation ship on his history with the science and religion. On April 8, 1633, Galileo would stand trial before 10 cardinals. A man named Niccolini had to break the news, that the merits had decided and all he do was submit.

Galileo challenged his theory and made the telescope to see for himself. Galileo found out that Copernicus' theory was correct and later began questioning his faith. If Copernicus prediction was correct, then the reading of Joshua in the bible will make complete sense, "So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven". Galileo believed in space and natural science and the catholic church didn't believe in none of that stuff or believed him.

Scientific Revolution: The Scientific Method

The Scientific Method is more accurate then the Scientific Revolution. Scientist used to depend on the method because supposedly it was the smartest thing people have heard of. Legend has it that Galileo went up to the Leaning Tower of Pisa and dropped stones of different weights to the ground. After he did that, he proved to what we know today ; light and heavy things fall at the same speed. Some people doubted that it was real. The public believed that bigger objects fell faster than light objects.

Some people actually believed that he was telling a fact. But no one stepped up to the plate and said "your wrong". Galileo was a perfect example of The Scientific Method, because scientific method is when you find out when something is false or is wrong. Don't get me wrong some people just didn't test out the experiment thats why they thought it was true.

Evolution vs Creation

The theory of evolution is that we came from apes or primates. Some people believe actually think this because they broke down pictures of apes amazingly evolved into us! Scientists have made studies and are 100% on this theory. Apes becoming humans over time? that's the weirdest thing that could of happen on Earth. Some people around the world would actually assume this because it sounds reasonable, but who would of made all the things like tools, weapons, and more. I would think some people who would think about that would start thinking of the Adam and Eve Creation.

The Adam and Eve theory of God's Creation, was that God made of what he taught a man looked like and he made what he thought a woman looked like. And he blessed them and told them to reproduce. Some people from the world would actually believe this because God has to do with it. But I personally get lost because either way if Adam and Eve have kids, the kids are going to be brothers and have to make more generations. The Adam and Eve theory can be more realistic because then some people would think that God created Earth and basically made everything in this World.

In my opinion I believe that God created the Generation of Apes, meaning that God created the primates. I would think this because if we were made from Adam and Eve we will all be brothers and sisters. But I would rather believe that we came from primates that God made. Because, everything in the world evolves into something more bigger and strong, apes probably become to humans.
